Four Sunday Times bestsellers, seventy thousand cups of tea
Sarah Turner: four Sunday Times bestsellers, lover of tea, and one incredible member of our community.
For the past eight years, we've had the privilege of watching author Sarah Turner (aka The Unmumsy Mum) turn cups of tea, deadlines and everyday chaos into four Sunday Times bestsellers — all from her desk here at The Generator Hub. We asked her what eight years of writing at Kings Wharf has looked like, in her own words:
"I have been working at The Generator for eight years, first renting a desk when I needed headspace away from my lovable but feral three children in order to meet a book deadline. In that time, I have written four books, drunk seventy thousand cups of tea and joined in with some of the most brilliant and random conversations of all time.
Memorable moments include procrastinating by hiring pedalos, Generator Traitors (I'm still not over how this played out) and borrowing Jim's office so I could dial into a book-club Zoom with Richard Madeley of Richard & Judy fame. No two days are the same in here, and though I came for the desk, I've stayed for the friendships and the snacks.
My newest novel, Well, That Escalated Quickly, came out on 2nd July. It's about a woman who tells a lie in order to clear one thing from her mental-load plate, and sort of sets fire to her life in the process.
It's my first novel to feature a co-working space — which is completely fictional, and any resemblance to actual persons or true events is purely coincidental. Please don't sue me."
Well, That Escalated Quickly is out now in all good bookshops — and quite possibly being quietly recommended around the Hub kitchen as you read this.

One of our favourite spots at the Generator Hub? The terrace.
Tucked away above the Quay, with sky above and water to the side, it's wonderfully peaceful — the perfect little escape from your desk whenever you need one. Take your lunch, a coffee or just five minutes of headspace, and watch life on the River Exe drift by below.
